Versailles is a drama history TV series created in collaboration with French and Canadian filmmakers. The series takes place in the period of time when the Palace of Versailles was constructed. Louis XIV was the reign. The release was carried out by BBC Two with the first season release date on the 16th of November 2015. The series has also been broadcast by Canal+, Super Channel, and Ovation in the USA. Plot
The plot of the series revolves in Versailles of 1667. The noble people of the court begin to stand against the monarchy. At this time, Louis XIV (portrayed by George Blagden) tries to impose his authority building a new castle. The noble people of Paris get to the castle to be stuck in a gilded cage. The courtiers, even the most humble ones, demonstrate their viciousness revealing the darkest secrets of politics. In every new episode, Versailles is shown in its brutality, magnificence, and glory. The cast includes George Blagden, Alexander Vlahos, Tygh Runyan, Stuart Bowman, Evan Williams, Anna Brewster, Elisa Lasowski and others.
Reception
Season 1 got multiple positive reviews both from critics and the viewers. Metacritic gave it 55 point score out of 100 possible, basing on the reviews of six critics. Rotten Tomatoes gave it 88 percent rating and a general rating was 6.1 out of 10 possible, basing on eight reviews of the critics. The series has a strong historical value presented by outstanding actors wrapped up in a perfectly composed plot and atmosphere.

2nd Season Air Date
Season two was ordered long before the premiere of the first one. Season 2 filming started in February of 2016. The plotline tells a story happening in four years after the events of season 1. On the 14th of September 2016, Claude Chelli, the producer of the project, confirmed the release of season 3. The filming of the third season is planned for the April of 2017. Season two will start airing in 2017.
