Story
The show is about Mary the Queen. The events start in 1557. Mary is about to get married to Prince Francis. She has been his bride since she was only 6 years old. Mary occurs in the whirlwind of events. She has to smartly adjust to changes in politics and other situations. At the same time, she finds out that she has a romantic feeling toward her future husband.
Bash, a brother of Francis, starts trying to attract Maria. The mother of Francis tries to do everything to prevent this marriage. She is afraid that this may destroy France as it was predicted by Nostradamus. Several handmaidens of Maria want to find husbands and they spend lots of time searching for the right candidates.
Since King Henry II dies, the prince and the princess become King and Queen. It is not that easy to combine the roles of monarchs with being good husband and wife. At the same time, the religious in the country is getting more complicated.
In the seasons 3, Francis dies and leaves Mary along. Charles, a brother of Francis, becomes a new king.
Interesting
The scenes of the show were shot Toronto and Ireland. Critics gave it mixed reviews. Some critics believe that show should have focused on the historical events instead of drama or romance. Lots of critics found the series fun and entertaining. Some of the American critics did not like that the historical accuracy was sacrificed to make it entertaining.
