Father Brown is a period drama detective series released in GB. The first season of Father Brown started airing on the 14th of January 2013 by BBC One. The action of the series revolves around Mark Williams – Roman Catholic priest dealing with all sorts of criminal investigations. The character of Father Brown was created by G. K. Chesterton in the series of his detective stories. Father Brown season 5 release date has already been announced.
Plot
The plotline is set in the beginning of the 50s. The action revolves in a fictional place called Kembleford. The local priest named Father Brown deals with investigations of crimes helping the police inspector who’s always eager to arrest someone without sufficient evidence. Father Brown is able to solve the hardest of mysteries together with the members of his family. Religion is his vocation. He’s a priest and, probably, his position gives him access to a number of the most horrible secrets of the locals. He’s got a unique, insight view on a number of mysterious situations happening in his village.
Cast & Characters
- Father Brown (portrayed by Mark Williams) – a Roman Catholic priest with mild manners. His simple and easily forgotten appearance serves as a cover for his razor-sharp intellect. He’s a talented priest and a talented detective as well. He’s also a keen psychologist able to understand people.
- Inspector Valentine (portrayed by Hugo Speer). Heads the police unit of the village. He’s got mixed feelings towards Father Brown admiring and feeling frustrated about him at a time.
- Mrs. Bridgette McCarthy (portrayed by Sorcha Cusack) – works as Father Brown’s secretary. She takes care of him and helps him with his investigations searching for facts and talking to people to get evidence.
- Lady Felicia Montague (portrayed by Nancy Carroll) – quite an enigmatic character because she’s often the one who finds all the dead bodies in almost every new episode.
- Sid Carter (portrayed by Alex Price) – the chauffeur of Lady Felicia. His criminal past often helps Father Brown in his investigations, however, Father Brown doesn’t like him and they communicate only when it’s really necessary for the result of the investigation.
- Susie Jasinski (portrayed by Kasia Koleczek) – a housekeeper of Father Brown.
- Inspector Sullivan (portrayed by Tom Chambers) – in seasons 2 and 3 he replaces Inspector Valentine.
- Inspector Mallory (portrayed by Jack Deam) – a police inspector often getting to wrong conclusions.
5th Season Air Date
The next season is planned to get started with a Christmas special episode that will be released on the 23rd of December 2016. The channel renewed Father Brown detective series for more episodes. The 5th season release date is the 2nd of January 2017.
