General Info
Top Chef premiered on Bravo in March 2006. The participants of the project are chefs in intense struggle to win in different cooking contests. The judges are professional experienced chefs from food or wine making industries. One of the participants is eliminated in each episode. The project is sponsored and produced by Magical Elves Productions. Earlier they’ve already created the Project Runway.
Top Chef served as a base for many other similar reality TV projects (Top Chef Masters, Top Chef: Just Desserts and Top Chef Junior). Lots of similar projects of this format were set in many other countries all over the planet.

The Cast the Crew and the Plot
Top Chef is a reality show created in the format of progressive elimination. Each season starts with 12-19 chefs professionally chosen beforehand by auditions. The participants live in a specially organized apartment. Their access to outside communication is restricted to the maximum.
There are two parts in each episode of the cooking contest – a Quickfire Challenge and an Elimination Challenge. The first challenge gives immunity from elimination. The second one finishes with elimination of the loser.
The judges are different depending on where each season of the project is filmed. The judges from the last seasons are: Tom Colicchio, Gail Simmons, Emeril Lagasse, Hugh Acheson, Richard Blais and Graham Elliot.
Feedback and Facts
Top Chef’s ratings are quite stable – the project manages to stay popular for 13 seasons and more which makes it totally cool.
The show was given the Emmy Award for cinematography anf original competition program.
Top Chef is in the top ten list of projects constantly returning to the TV screens from 2007.
