The main characters of the movie are Ned Fleming (played by Bryan Cranston) and his Barb, his wife (played by Megan Mullally). They live together with their elder son Scott (portrayed by Griffin Gluck) who is 15 years old. The family visits their elder daughter named Stephanie (played by Zoey Deutch). At her place they get introduced to her new boyfriend Laird Mayhew ( played by James Franco). He’s a rich and popular young man with quite an unusual bubbly personality. He’s very frank and honest about personal issues which makes the parents and their son feel kinda uncomfortable. Stephanie’s father Ned despises him but she’s sure her boyfriend is a wonderful person no matter what her parents think about him. The most important thing here is that Stephanie feels happy.
But then the story turns into an unpredictable twist. Laird decides to propose to Stephanie. But before he can do that he has to prove his love for her by doing something worthy so that Stephanie’s dad could give the blessing. Laird does his best to win and Ned does his best to prevent him from it.

The official release date was announced by 20th Century Fox. The film will get to big screens on the 25th of December 2016, but earlier it was planned for the 30th of September 2016.
