About Steven Universe

The comedy animated TV series titled Steven Universe has been broadcast by Cartoon Network for 2 seasons now. The show has been created by Rebecca Sugar who is also known for her miscellaneous work on another CN supershow Adventure Time. She and Ian Jones-Quartey (who worked on The Venture Bros.) are executive producers for Steven Universe. Rebecca Sugar is also the first woman creator with Cartoon Network. The Steven Universe producers include Chuck Austen (known for Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja), Jackie Buscarino (also produced The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack), and Cartoon Network Studios serves as the production company. The first season of Steven Universe premiered in early November 2013.

The renewal of Steven Universe

Even before the season 2 premiere in March 2015, the show Steven Universe was officially renewed by Cartoon Network during the channel’s press conference in February. It is one of the channel’s 10 animated series which will be continued in the new TV season (they include Adventure Time, Teen Titans Go!, Regular Show, Sonic Boom, Uncle Grandpa, and Clarence).

Plot

The main idea of the series is that the universe is under constant threat of being devoured by the evil, and the only thing that can protect it are the Crystal Gems, which is the name acquired by four super warriors who are charged with the energy of special gemstones. Their names are Amethyst, Garnet, Pearl, and… Steven, whose mother, Rose Quartz, was the owner of the gemstone before him. Zach Callison, Michaela Dietz, Estelle, Matthew Moy, Tom Scharpling, Deedee Magno Hall, Grace Rolek, and Kate Micucci voiced the characters of Steven Universe.
