Dunkirk

Dunkirk is an action thriller planned to be released in the middle of summer 2017. The project is created together by French, British and American filmmakers. The direction and co-production are carried out by Christopher Nolan. The action of the film revolves in the period of World War II and concentrates on the Dunkirk evacuation. The principal photography and filming started on the 23rd of May 2016 in Dunkirk, France. Will be available in IMAX a flawless work of Hoyte van Hoytema cinematographer.

Plot

The action revolves around a group of soldiers from Belgium, Canada, and France. The get united to stand the German Army on the coastline of Dunkirk. They are surrounded and eventually evacuated. It was happening from the 26th of May till the 4th of June 1940. This period of time was known as Operation Dynamo – one of the first stages of World War II.

Production

Hoyte van Hoytema was invited to deal with cinematography. He’s famous for his talented work on Interstellar sci-fi film released in 2014 by Christopher Nolan.

In the end of 2015, there were first negotiations about the members of the cast. Tom Hardy, Kenneth Branagh, and Mark Rylance were supposed to portray the main characters. In March of 2016, Fionn was assigned to portray one of the leasing characters. A little bit later, Jack Lowden, Aneurin Barnard and Harry Styles joined the main cast. The next month Cillian Murphy was added to the acting crew. In May of 2016, the main cast was complete with James D’Arcy, Barry Keoghan and Tom Glynn-Carney.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Nolan signed a contract with Warner Bros. Studios. He’s going to get $20 million for his work. That’s one of the most affluent deals since the filming of King Kong directed by Peter Jackson.

In January of 2016, Hans Zimmer started working with the official soundtrack for the film.

The first teaser trailer for Dunkirk was released in cinema theatres before the releases of Suicide Squad, on the 4th of August 2016. ListenFirst Media announced that the trailer received huge acclaim and made numerous viewers extremely interested in the release. It was engaged in numerous Twitter posts and turned out to be one of the most successful trailers of the week according to the statistics of reposts in social networks. The full trailer was available on the 14th of December 2016. At present, Dunkirk is one of the most discussed films at present.
